Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) Midi devices on android can be tricky to get connected and get reliable data from. Devices from bigger manufacturers such as Korg seem to be better than some of the cheaper devices available on stores like AliExpress. We have found that the Korg Nanokey Studio for example is very reliable whereas devices like the M-Vave SMC pad is very unreliable (our device broke after a very short time, with only minimal use!)
To connect your BTLE Midi device to and Android phone you need to use the “Bluetooth MIDI” button in the Settings Midi page. To start the process, click the connect button.

Make sure you give Koala all the permissions requested when prompted. These are required by the Android OS in order for Koala to access the Bluetooth drivers, and BTLE will only work with all these permissions.
A dialog will appear showing you a list of all devices that are currently advertised as available BTLE Midi devices. Koala will keep scanning for devices for as long as this dialog is open.

Once your device appears, click the “Connect” button. Koala will perform all the necessary connections and handshakes with your device. When prompted make sure to click “Pair” on all dialogs that appear. Some devices (such as the M-vave SMC pad) will prompt multiple times (because they have multiple BTLE ports) – you have to click “Pair” on all the prompts to get full connection. After this Koala will have connected to your device and you can use it the same as if you were using a wired device

Once you have connected all the devices you want to use, click the “Finished” button to close the BTLE dialog.
